Hooper’s Electric Power Division is Midwest grown and nationally known, with a geographic reach from the Rocky Mountains to Florida. Our regional offices located in Wisconsin, Colorado, Florida, Michigan and Ohio have collectively completed hundreds of successful projects, including significant 345kV and 500kV lines throughout the United States. The magnitude and complexity of work we have undertaken over the last 10 years has dramatically increased and is supported by our dedicated Fleet Operations department with an inventory of more than 1,800 vehicles and equipment. Hooper’s full scope of services in the Electric Power Division include Transmission & Distribution, Substation, Line Clearance and Storm Response expertise.
Hooper uses both traditional and innovative methods to construct transmission and distribution lines. Specialty equipment is used to overcome obstacles and minimize environmental impact. Our employees in all divisions undergo extensive safety training to ensure accident-free work sites. When our highly trained operators combine with our fleet of specialized construction equipment, we have an unmatched ability to complete the toughest jobs safely and efficiently.

Hooper Corporation’s Substation Department specializes in high voltage substation construction, modifications, and maintenance at voltages up to 500 kV. While other contractors perform substation projects as a small part of overall operations, Hooper has professional project managers, dedicated field leadership, and experienced craftspeople to specifically deliver substation projects. Hooper maintains one of the largest continuously employed substation workforces in the Midwest and executes projects throughout the United States and Canada.

Hooper Corporation is ideally suited with its specialized project managers and field supervisors to perform all of your substation needs, from the smallest brown field substation upgrade to the largest multi-substation green field EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) project and everything in between.
Our Substation Department is active in today’s renewable energy market. These renewable energy projects often have aggressive schedules and complex technical demands. Our Substation Department is a perfect construction partner for these applications.
Our Line Clearance Tree Trimming Department has been servicing the Greater Madison area since the 1970s. Our specialized fleet and expert tradespeople are experienced in:
- Clearance of overhead power lines
- Herbicide application
- Right-of-way clearing
- Emergency storm service
- Municipal and utility work
Our qualified line clearance arborists are capable of working in close proximity to energized lines because of their ongoing documented training, both on the job and in the classroom. They have also received Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) electrical hazard training, or Electrical Hazards Awareness Program (EHAP) Certification as it is otherwise known.
On staff, we have certified arborists knowledgeable about the needs of trees and are both trained and equipped to provide proper care. Our certified arborists are continually training in the latest arboriculture techniques to maintain their certification. Hooper’s veteran staff is ready and able to assist both commercial and residential customers.
Hooper has the manpower and equipment to provide an emergency response crew for any storm restoration effort at any time and we have supported Hooper customers across the United States through our disaster restoration efforts. Hooper has responded to hurricanes throughout the Southern and Eastern seaboard, severe thunderstorms, tornados, and floods in the Midwest, and snow and ice storms in the Northeast.

Our crews are equipped with the latest technology, including computers and GPS devices with mapping technology to quickly and efficiently locate and respond to assigned repair locations.
Hooper’s Safety Department personnel are sent to support our crews and remain on site for the duration of the restoration effort. Employees complete a storm-specific training program prior to deployment and are required to wear a personal voltage detector (V-Watch) and every crew is equipped with an AED.
