Illumina recently constructed a 132,000 square-foot facility to provide room for increased manufacturing of life science tools and integrated systems for large-scale analysis of genetic variation and function. In addition, a large amount of office space was created to facilitate their growing needs. Our team was brought on as an early trade partner to assist in design efforts of the specialized waste systems, reverse osmosis (RO) water system, specialty gas systems, plumbing and fire protection. Crews followed unique standards while installing specialty systems for oxygen, clean steam, natural gas, and compressed air.
Hooper Corporation was brought on for early trade involvement to assist in all mechanical design applications. Hooper worked closely with the owner, general contractor and other trade partners in coordination efforts to expedite the schedule and reduce costs. Hooper Corporation was instrumental in the installation of the specialty drainage and RO systems. The multiple loops of the RO system had to be pitched for complete drainability and every weld was documented. The specialty drainage system was a 316L stainless steel, fully welded assembly that drained into a patented bio-neutralization system.
